Laced closure — pressure where you want it, nowhere you don't

Dials and ratchets concentrate tension in two or three spots, which is where most hot spots and numb toes come from on long days. Lacing spreads the load across the whole instep, so you can run it looser over a high arch and snug at the ankle. On a five-hour ride you stop thinking about your feet — which is the point.

10-layer carbon sole — nothing lost between leg and pedal

A boat-shaped 3K golden-thread carbon sole delivers elite stiffness with no measurable flex under load. Soft soles bleed watts on hard efforts and leave your arches aching on climbs. Here, every pedal stroke goes straight into the drivetrain — you feel it most in the last hour of a race, when the shoe is still holding its shape.

213 g per shoe — weight you don't have to think about

213 ± 2 g in size 42 (under 200 g without insoles). Removing the closure hardware is where the weight went. Over thousands of pedal strokes, lighter feet mean less rotating mass to swing and less accumulated fatigue on repeated climbs.

Breathable microfiber upper — no swampy feet in summer

High-density microfiber with a soft microfiber lining and mapped ventilation zones. Cheap uppers trap heat and stiffen with sweat; this one stays supple, moves air across the foot, and keeps the fit consistent from the first ride to the hundredth.

Two insoles included — a real fit, not a compromise

Every pair ships with an ultralight comfort insole and a heat-moldable arch insole for high arches or thin insteps. Most brands give you one flat piece of foam and let you sort out the rest. Here you can dial in arch support without a separate aftermarket purchase.

Titanium-alloy 3-bolt cleat mount

Standard 3-bolt pattern, compatible with Shimano, Look and — using the screws supplied with the cleats — Wahoo/Speedplay. The titanium-alloy plate resists the thread wear that plagues plastic inserts after repeated cleat swaps.

Three fit widths — Average, Wide, Narrow

Most performance shoes come in one last, so half of all riders are compromising. The Z001 is offered in three widths across sizes 36–49 (half sizes included), so you buy the shoe that matches your foot instead of adapting to it. Use the Zuatu size chart: measure foot length in mm and match it to the width range for your fit.
